ACT Scores - 2017

The ACT test is one of the standardized test adopted by colleges to assess college readiness for high school seniors. This year, the composite average of FVL students is 23.4, well above the state composite of 20.5 and the national average of 21.0. For those who follow test scores from year-to-year, FVL’s 2016 composite was 24.4. This drop reflects that FVL is now testing 100% of its students whether they are college-bound or not. Wisconsin state scores last year dropped dramatically because of this new policy, falling from scores that were among the best in the nation to below the national average. For FVL students who took the “college CORE” courses, the composite score of those students remained at 24.4.

  ENGLISH MATH READING SCIENCE COMPOSITE
FVL 22.7 23.2 23.5 23.5 23.4
Wisconsin  19.7  20.4  20.6  20.9  20.5
USA 20.3 20.7 21.4 21.0 21.0

These high scores demonstrate the Lord's blessings on the educational efforts of the entire FVL Schools system. The scores are a tribute to the hard work not only of the students, but also of their parents, elementary, and high school teachers.

The ACT exams are standards used nationwide by schools to judge the quality of the education they offer. While such tests cannot measure the quality of a Christ-centered education, they can provide important information about the quality of instruction students are receiving in key subjects at FVL.

Related ACT Findings

As part of the ACT program, students are asked to state their perceptions on various aspects of school life. The students rated FVL's classroom instruction, grading practices, testing procedures, guidance services, media center facilities, and curriculum offerings highly.
