ENG-11 - American Literature (AMLIT)

This required semester course presents a survey of great American writers in a variety of genres. Discussion includes literary terms and historical background relevant to their works. Major works studied include Mark Twain’s Huckleberry Finn and John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath. Additional great writers covered include Poe, Hawthorne, Dickinson, and numerous others. Students will create an MLA format bibliography of all authors read.

  • Prerequisite: Language Arts 2
  • Required: Yes, unless taking Advanced American Literature & Composition
