This semester course provides students a survey of the history of Britain and British literature from the Anglo-Saxons through the Romantics via works of fiction and non-fiction. Genres include drama, novels, poetry, short stories, and essays. Major works covered may include Shakespeare’s Hamlet and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Students will focus on evaluating the authors’ intent, impact, and philosophies from a Christian viewpoint, while practicing moral and ethical responsibilities as readers, interpreters, and writers of English.
Prerequisite: American Literature
