Under the direction of coaches who have worked with college and professional athletes, the summer workouts have been designed with the development of athletic ability, injury prevention, and overall fitness in mind.

Session Options for Summer 2019
Workouts for no Phy Ed Credit - $100
Summer Workouts emphasize strength, speed, and functional fitness. No minimum attendance requirements, and no papers or essays are assigned. Either Session 1 or Session 2 may be selected, depending on your incoming grade and whether this is your first or a returning year.

SESSION 1 (limit 120 students)
Level 1 - Learn to Train
Introduction to the FVL Summer Workouts. The pace and level of hands-on instruction are appropriate for those new to speed, agility, and resistance training.
Who can enroll? Students entering grades 7-12 who have not participated in past Summer Workout Programs
Level 2 - Train to Gain
Intermediate level of the FVL Summer Workouts. Participants will review proper exercise techniques and work to master these skills. This level will be more challenging and appropriate for the participants' physical development.
Who can enroll? Students entering grades 8-12 who have participated in the Summer Workout Program in the past
SESSION 2 - Train to Compete (limit 150 students)
Advanced level of the FVL Summer Workout Program. Training intensity increased to level appropriate for varsity athletes. The goal is to prepare participants for their upcoming seasons.
Who can enroll? Students entering grades 10-12 who have participated in the Summer Workout Program in the past
John is FVL's Strength and Conditioning Coach. He holds a masters degree in sports management with an emphasis in coaching. In addition, he recently earned a certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist. During his coaching career, he has worked at various levels of college athletics with stops at the University of Utah, the University of Michigan, Wayne State University, and UW Whitewater. In 2007, he helped coach Whitewater to their first NCAA National Championship in football.
As a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a certified strength and conditioning specialist, Mr. Bentz brings his expertise and over 35 years of experience to our staff.
