Cheaper by the Dozen
by Christopher Sergel
Based on the novel by Frank B. Gilbreth, Jr. & Ernestine Gilbreth Carey
Directed by Seth Hahnke
Adapted from the semi-autobiographical novel of the same name, Cheaper by the Dozen tells the story of Anne Gilbreth, the oldest daughter of a family of twelve children. Her father is one of the great pioneers of industrial efficiency and applies his unorthodox methods to his family. The results are terribly embarrassing, funny, and—it must be admitted—extremely effective. However, Anne and her father frequently clash over a lack of understanding between them and must work toward finding common ground admist change and tragedy in their lives.
With a special one-act featurette "Appropriate Audience Behavior"
by Ian McWethy
Carol and Ashley are expecting a tale of woe as they take their seats to watch Hamlet, but the real tragedy is that they're sitting next to the world's noisiest weirdos. The audience takes the spotlight as everyone from a cough-drop obsessive to a guy watching the play like a football game steals the show from the unseen Shakespearean masterpiece. An outrageously meta comedy reminds us where the drama belongs—onstage.
