Fox Valley Lutheran High School, in partnership with families and Federation churches, provides students with a Christ-centered education, preparing them for lives of service and for eternity.

The FVL curriculum is designed to prepare students to become dedicated Christian adults. Academic programs are available for students planning to attend college or university, as well as for those considering full-time ministry as pastors, teachers, or staff ministers. FVL also offers a general high school program for students who plan to enter the workforce after graduation or serve our nation in the military.
 

The Bible teaches that “God does not show favoritism” (Acts 10:34). Based on this passage and Biblical principles, and since the purpose of Fox Valley Lutheran High School is to educate teens for lives of service and for eternity, FVLHS does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national, or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and tuition assistance, or athletic and other school-administered programs.

All students are encouraged to participate in cocurricular activities. According to the WIAA, individual schools determine academic eligibility policy.

A student cannot have more than one failing grade (including incompletes) in the most recent school-issued grade reporting period to be eligible for cocurriculars.  

• The grading periods are Mid-Term 1, Term 1, Mid-Term 2, Mid-Term 3, Term 3, and Mid-Term 4.  

• Once grades are posted, the student will have a window of time to appeal. All students are eligible while waiting for the results of the appeal process.   

• Ineligibility does not carry over to the next semester unless a student has failed more than one class at the semester marking period per WIAA guidelines. In this situation, the ACE (Academic Committee on Eligibility) members at FVL will determine eligibility based on WIAA guidelines.

• A student may lose Building Pass permissions and/or Commons privileges if Academically Ineligible.

The Academic Committee for Eligibility (ACE) supervises the general policy.  Questions concerning ACE policies should be directed to the Guidance Director.

Students and parents are encouraged to check grades on Skyward Family Access regularly to avoid academic ineligibility.  Close communication with teachers can minimize grading issues.

 

 

 

• Students cannot drop a class that would give them two study halls in a semester without the consent of their Guidance Counselor and the FVL Administration.

• Student Success students may have two study halls in the same semester. Students with two College classes in the same semester may have two study halls in the corresponding semester.

• A student may add or drop a class taken in Semester 1 up to five school days after Semester 1 has started.

• A student may add or drop a class taken in Semester 2 up to five school days after Semester 2 has started. 

• For classes designated as College classes, a student has until the UW-Oshkosh drop deadline to drop the class. The only class that may be added would be a similar class (e.g. College Physics to Physics).

• Course changes after the deadline may be allowed for rare, extenuating circumstances at the discretion of the Guidance Counselor, Guidance Director, and/or Principal.

• A form requiring signatures of teachers, parents, and students may be used for approval to drop a course. The student’s Guidance Counselor will provide that information.

 

 

• PURPOSEFUL USE
  AI tools can support learning, enhance understanding, and improve productivity when used appropriately. Students are encouraged to use these tools as a resource to support—rather than replace—their own thinking.
   
• ETHICAL USE
  All submitted work must accurately reflect each student’s knowledge, understanding, and effort. AI should be used in ways that support honest and responsible learning.
   
• ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
  Plagiarism—including the use of AI-generated content without proper attribution—is prohibited.
   
• ORIGINALITY AND CRITICAL THINKING
  Students remain responsible for producing work that demonstrates their own thinking and creativity, even when using AI tools for support.
   
• ATTRIBUTION AND TRANSPARENCY
  Use of AI tools must be clearly disclosed and cited in accordance with teacher guidelines.
   
• PROCESS DOCUMENTATION (DIGITAL RECORD)
  Students may be required to maintain a record of their work process (e.g., drafts, notes, version history, or other evidence). This documentation should demonstrate how the work was developed and verify appropriate use of AI tools.
   
• UNDERSTANDING AI AS A TOOL
  Students are expected to evaluate AI-generated content thoughtfully, recognizing both its value and its limitations in accuracy and reliability.
   
• TEACHER GUIDANCE AND VERIFICATION
  Teachers will provide guidance on appropriate AI use, establish expectations, and may require students to explain or demonstrate their learning to verify authenticity.

 

For student safety, FVL accounts for every student during every class period.

All absences—excused and unexcused—are recorded as part of the student’s permanent cumulative record and apply toward attendance limits.

Students must attend school by 10:00 AM to participate in any school-sponsored activity that day, unless approved by the administration. Students who have been suspended (in or out-of-school) for the entire day are also ineligible for school-sponsored activities that day.

Course credit may be forfeited after the 10th absence in a class during a semester. This includes all absences recorded as a part of the student’s attendance record (excused or unexcused). This would not include absences for school-sponsored activities. Administrative review will occur before credit is denied.
 

 

Regular attendance is expected of all students. Attendance is a matter of stewardship, safety, and academic responsibility. The Dean of Student Life oversees all attendance matters and is supported by the Attendance Coordinator. The administration reserves the right to determine whether an absence is excused or unexcused.

Wisconsin Statute §118.15 requires full-time school attendance for students ages 7–18. Regular attendance is also required to earn academic credit at FVL.
 

The following may be approved as excused when properly reported:

• Personal illness
• Serious illness or death in the family
• Religious services
• Inclement weather preventing safe travel
• Court summons or legal obligations
• Medical, dental, or counseling appointments
• Driver’s license testing
• Military service obligations
• College visits or verified career-related activities

Other unique circumstances may be approved at the discretion of the Dean of Student Life.

Medical documentation may be required for illnesses lasting five (5) or more consecutive school days.

Appointments should be scheduled outside school hours or during study periods whenever possible.

 

FVL exists to provide a safe, Christ-centered environment where students grow spiritually, academically, and personally. Because we are a Christian school, students are expected to live in a manner consistent with God’s Word.

All discipline is guided by Scripture. While all sin is forgiven through Jesus Christ, actions have earthly consequences when they harm others, violate Biblical standards, disrupt learning, or break civil law. The purpose of discipline is correction, accountability, repentance, restoration, and spiritual growth.

The Deans of Student Life oversee student conduct and discipline in consultation with the Principal and other administrators as needed. The administration reserves the right to address conduct not specifically listed in this handbook if it violates Biblical principles, school policy, or civil law.
 

Students are expected to live according to Biblical principles at all times. 

The school administration may assign penalties for conduct—whether occurring in or out of school—that reflects discredit on FVL and its mission or creates a disruptive influence on school discipline, Christian standards, or the educational environment.

This includes, but is not limited to:

• Violations of state or federal laws.
• Misconduct involving social media, internet postings, or electronic communication.
• Behaviors such as vulgar language, vandalism, theft, or disorderly conduct.

Such conduct may warrant school disciplinary action, including exclusion from representing FVL in cocurricular activities or athletics.

The school may involve law enforcement when appropriate.  A School Resource Officer has been assigned to FVL by the Appleton Police Department. 
 

 

 

All students are created in the image of God and deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and Christian love. Racism, racial harassment, or racially derogatory conduct is sinful and will not be tolerated.

 

FVL’s campus is a gift entrusted to us by the members of the FVL Federation. Christian stewardship calls us to care for our buildings, grounds, and equipment with respect and responsibility. Students are expected to treat all facilities as they would their own church or home.

Vandalism, misuse of property, or careless behavior may result in restitution, disciplinary action, and possible legal consequences.
 

Students are expected to help maintain a clean and orderly campus.

• Dispose of garbage and recycling properly.
• Keep classrooms, hallways, and lockers neat.
• Report damage or maintenance concerns to a staff member.

Acts of vandalism or destruction of property are serious violations and may require restitution and disciplinary consequences.
 

The School Office is available to assist students and help connect them with the appropriate staff member when needs arise. Common services include:

• Assistance with illness or minor medical needs
• Calling home when necessary
• Lost and found items
• Questions about lunch accounts or balances
• Payments and other school-related transactions

Office staff may also relay important messages to students when necessary. Students will only be called from class for emergencies.

Except in emergencies, students should use the School Office before school, after chapel, during lunch, or after school rather than during class time.
 

Fox Valley Lutheran High School is committed to providing a safe, orderly environment where students can grow academically and spiritually. Safety policies exist to protect life, promote responsibility, and reflect Christ-like care for one another. Loving our neighbor includes taking security seriously. Students are expected to:

• Report threats or unsafe behavior.
• Follow staff directions immediately in emergencies.
• Resolve conflict peacefully.
   

FVL sponsors a variety of activities to benefit the student body. God blesses our students with a wide variety of gifts, and an extensive activity program has been developed and is supervised by the faculty and the Activities Director. These activities are a wonderful way to make use of the gifts that God has given to his people. Many of these activities help students develop life-long skills such as leadership, teamwork, and humble service. Awards may be given to those who have distinguished themselves in cocurricular activities.

Note - Use of the school name for any activity not sponsored by the school is prohibited.

Fox Valley Lutheran High School is a member of the Bay Conference. Some sports teams play outside the Bay, so FVL is also a member of:

• Badgerland Conference - boys hockey
• Bay Valley Converence - boys & girls lacrosse
• Eastern Shores Conference - girls hockey

As members of each of these organizations, FVL abides by the constitution and by-laws of these governing bodies.

The WIAA mandates that no students will be eligible for interscholastic athletics, practice, or competition until the parent signs and submits verification of reading or completion of . . .

Physical exams for 2026-2027 must be administered after April 1, 2026, with a copy on file in the School Office. Exams administered between April 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026, are valid only if the parent completes and submits an Alternate Year Card. Exams administered prior to April 1, 2025, are no longer valid. 

Transfer students are athletically ineligible until the WIAA rules on eligibility status. Transfer verification forms need to be filed with the former school, new school, and the WIAA.

Banned Substances

Students are forbidden from interacting with banned substances while enrolled at FVL.

Banned substances include, but are not limited to, alcohol, tobacco products (e.g., cigarettes, e-cigarettes, chewing tobacco), illicit or illegal drugs (e.g., marijuana, hallucinogens, inhalants, cocaine, heroin, misuse of prescription drugs), performance-enhancers (e.g., steroids, stimulants, masking agents), or other substances that are illegal to possess/use or banned from possession/use by local/state/federal authorities, FVL, the WIAA, or another applicable governing body. 

Students are forbidden to possess, consume, or distribute banned substances. They are also forbidden to knowingly be present with others who possess, consume, or distribute banned substances.

Violation of this policy may result in detention or suspension from school and/or suspension from cocurricular participation, or possibly lead to expulsion. Additional consequences may apply for cocurricular participation based on individual program codes of conduct.

 

Warning for Adults Regarding Underage Drinking

The Wisconsin Social Host Law (Wis. Stat. sec. 125.07(1)(a)3) makes it illegal for adults to provide a location for underage drinking. “No adult may knowingly permit or fail to take action to prevent the illegal consumption of alcoholic beverages by an underage person on property, including any premises, owned and occupied by the adult or occupied by the adult and under the adult’s control.” The first offense may carry a fine of up to $500 (Wis. Stat. sec. 125.07(1)(b)). Additional offenses are considered criminal and could result in increased fines and/or imprisonment.

 

Banned Substances: Athletic Penalties

The following pertains to participation in athletics regarding banned substance policy violations.

A student who attends a gathering where a violation occurs and does not consume, possess, or distribute a banned substance and . . .

• leaves immediately after becoming aware of the violation and submits a self-referral, will receive NO PENALTY; or
• leaves immediately after becoming aware of the violation and cooperates with the investigation, will receive NO PENALTY; or
• tells the truth about staying for an extended time, may LOSE 10% OF COMPETITIONS; or
• lies about the incident, may LOSE 20% OF COMPETITIONS.

A student who does consume, possess, or distribute a banned substance and . . .

• submits a self-referral admitting to the violation, may LOSE 20% OF COMPETITIONS; or
• tells the truth and cooperates with the investigation, may LOSE 33% OF COMPETITIONS; or
• distributes the substance or knowingly hosts a gathering where a violation occurs, may LOSE 50% OF COMPETITIONS, or
• lies about the incident, may LOSE 50% OF COMPETITIONS.

In the case of multiple offenses while enrolled at FVL . . .

• 2nd Offense - Percent of competitions lost is DOUBLED.
• 3rd Offense - 365-DAY SUSPENSION from the date of the disciplinary decision.
• 4th Offense - LIFETIME BAN from ALL cocurricular participation.

Additional penalties clarifications for athletics

• Lost days of competition apply to any and all concurrent athletic seasons.  
• Percent loss of competitions will be based on the total number of days of competition in the regular season, with a minimum of one day of competition lost. All calculations will be rounded down to the nearest day of competition.
• A date of return will be provided for the student where possible. Changes to the competition calendar outside of the athlete’s control, such as weather postponements or cancellations, shall not extend the penalty’s length.
• Per WIAA regulations, a student who is not allowed to participate in a postseason competition will be ineligible for the remainder of that tournament series.
• Penalties for offenses that occur out-of-season will be applied to the next regular athletic season in which the student participates.
• In the event that a season ends before a loss of competition penalty is fulfilled, the remaining penalty will be prorated and applied to the next athletic season in which the student participates.
• All penalties incurred will be carried over to subsequent seasons as needed until fully complete or 365 days have elapsed (whichever occurs first).

 

Banned Substances: Penalties for Activities with Scheduled Competitions

The following pertains to participation in activities with scheduled competitions (e.g., Math Team, eSports, Robotics, Forensics, Trap) or theatre activities* (e.g., Fall Play, Musical) regarding banned substance policy violations.

A student who attends a gathering where a violation occurs and does not consume, possess, or distribute a banned substance and . . .

• leaves immediately after becoming aware of the violation and submits a self-referral, will receive NO PENALTY; or
• leaves immediately after becoming aware of the violation and cooperates with the investigation, will receive NO PENALTY; or
• tells the truth about staying for an extended time, may LOSE 10% OF COMPETITIONS*; or
• lies about the incident, may LOSE 20% OF COMPETITIONS*.

A student who does consume, possess, or distribute a banned substance and . . .

• submits a self-referral admitting to the violation, may LOSE 20% OF COMPETITIONS*; or
• tells the truth and cooperates with the investigation, may LOSE 33% OF COMPETITIONS*; or 
• distributes the substance or knowingly hosts a gathering where a violation occurs, may LOSE 50% OF COMPETITIONS*; or
• lies about the incident, may LOSE 50% OF COMPETITIONS*.

*Theatre activities are unique because performances come at the end of the season. Penalties may include the loss of rehearsal or performance days (instead of competitions), depending on when the violation occurred. In consultation with the administration, directors may also change or remove a student from a role or part due to the loss of rehearsal or performance days.

In the case of multiple offenses while enrolled at FVL . . .

• 2nd Offense - Percent of competitions lost is DOUBLED.
• 3rd Offense - 365-DAY SUSPENSION from the date of the disciplinary decision.
• 4th Offense - LIFETIME BAN from ALL cocurricular participation.

Additional penalties clarifications for activities with competition season

• Lost days of competition apply to any and all concurrent activities with defined seasons.
• Percent loss of competitions will be based on the total number of days of competition in the regular season, with a minimum of one day lost. All calculations will be rounded down to the nearest day.
• Percent loss of rehearsals or performances will be based on the total number of days in the theatre season. These normally begin on the first day of rehearsal and end on the last day of performances. All calculations will be rounded down to the nearest day.
• A date of return will be provided for the student where possible. Changes to the competition calendar outside of the student’s control, such as weather postponements or cancellations, shall not extend the penalty’s length.
• Penalties for offenses that occur out-of-season will be applied to the next cocurricular activity in which the student participates.
• In the event that a season ends before a loss of competition penalty is fulfilled, the remaining penalty will be prorated and applied to the next activity season in which the student participates.
• All penalties incurred will be carried over to subsequent seasons as needed until fully complete or 365 days have elapsed (whichever occurs first).
   

Banned Substances: Penalties for Activities with No Defined Season

The following pertains to participation in activities with no defined season (e.g., Student Council, NHS, PLG, Choraliers, Jazz Ensemble, SALT, Cross & Crown, American Mentor Group, FBLA, Perspective, C-Bate, Outside the Lines) regarding banned substance policy violations.

A student who attends a gathering where a violation occurs and does not consume, possess, or distribute a banned substance and . . .

• leaves immediately after becoming aware of the violation and submits a self-referral, will receive NO PENALTY; or
• leaves immediately after becoming aware of the violation and cooperates with the investigation, will receive NO PENALTY; or
• tells the truth about staying for an extended time, may LOSE 30 DAYS OF PARTICIPATION; or
• lies about the incident, may LOSE 60 DAYS OF PARTICIPATION.

A student who does consume, possess, or distribute a banned substance and . . .

• submits a self-referral admitting to the violation, may LOSE 60 DAYS OF PARTICIPATION; or
• tells the truth and cooperates with the investigation, may LOSE 90 DAYS OF PARTICIPATION; or
• distributes the substance or knowingly hosts a gathering where a violation occurs, may LOSE 120 DAYS OF PARTICIPATION; or
• lies about the incident, may LOSE 120 DAYS OF PARTICIPATION.

In the case of multiple offenses while enrolled at FVL . . .

• 2nd Offense - Days of participation lost is DOUBLED.
• 3rd Offense - 365-DAY SUSPENSION from the date of the disciplinary decision.
• 4th Offense - LIFETIME BAN from ALL cocurricular participation.

Additional penalties clarifications for activities with no defined season

• “Days of participation” refers to all calendar days spanning the penalty.
• Lost days of participation apply to any and all concurrent activities without defined seasons.
• A date of return will be provided for the student where possible.
• Penalties for offenses that occur out-of-season will be applied to the next cocurricular activity in which the student participates. Days of participation lost that extend beyond June 15 will be carried over to the new school year beginning August 10.
• All penalties incurred will be carried over to subsequent activities as needed until fully complete or 365 days have elapsed (whichever occurs first).

 

Banned Substances: Self-Referral

In the event that a student attends a gathering where a banned substance violation occurs or consumes or possesses a banned substance, the student may submit a self-referral with the following conditions:

• Online self-referral form must be submitted by the end of the next day after the incident occurs (found on student laptop and website).
• Form must include the date of the incident, time of arrival and departure where applicable, a short summary of the incident, and the location (the location is optional for students who did not commit a violation).
• A follow-up meeting will be initiated with the Dean or Assistant Dean of Student Life to determine if further action may be required.
   

Disciplinary Appeal Process

In an effort to partner with families, we recognize there may be disagreement regarding disciplinary action taken by the FVL Administration. Caregivers, therefore, have the right to appeal that decision within 48 hours of receiving notice of the disciplinary action.

Appeals must be submitted to the President in written form through letter or email (president@fvlhs.org). Appeals must clearly state why the caregiver feels FVL’s policy was improperly applied to the action taken.

The Board-appointed Appeals Committee (President, Administrative Pastor, and two Board of Regents representatives) is responsible for reviewing all disciplinary appeals, and in its sole discretion, may forward the matter to the full Board of Regents.

Results of the appeal will be communicated to the family within 48 hours of the decision by the committee or full board. All decisions made by or on behalf of the Board of Regents are final.

 

Regarding Spiritual and Mental Health Support

Spiritual and mental health services may also be utilized to support students involved with banned substance violations. Those may include pastoral counseling, individual or group guidance counseling, clinical counseling, or other rehabilitative services.
  

Awards

Athletes ending a season on suspension will not receive FVL awards and will not be eligible to be nominated for post-season honors. Athletes missing a portion of the season due to suspension but finishing in good standing will receive FVL awards and may or may not receive post-season honors.

WIAA Regulations

A student who transfers schools with a status of ineligibility is suspended for the same period as decreed by the former school.
Suspensions occurring during WIAA tournament competition will result in suspension for the remainder of the tournament.

Practice, Tryouts, and Cuts During Suspension

• Any suspension equal to or less than 25% of a season will allow the athlete to practice and prepare for competition. 
• Any suspension greater than 25% of the season will have the athlete begin practice when the coach feels it is in the best interest of the team for the athlete to begin practice.
• Any athlete suspended for a portion of the season may be cut. Even though a player is suspended 25% or 50% of a season, a coach may—in consultation with the school administration—decide it is better to have another athlete 100% of the season and cut the suspended player. This is applicable when teams are limited with cuts such as basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, etc.
• If a suspended athlete who is practicing with the team is making it difficult on the coach or the team, the coach may request the school administration to assist in removing the athlete from the team.
• If an athlete is suspended for 100% of a season, he/she may be allowed to practice, but only if a meeting has taken place involving the Athletic Director, Head Coach, athlete, and his/her parents. In this case, the decision to allow the player to participate in practice and any ground rules that are established will be set up by the Head Coach, in consultation with the Athletic Director, and must be agreed to by the player and parents. 

Conflict of Interest Policy for Coaches, Advisors, & Administrators

The school has established a Conflict of Interest Policy for Coaches, Advisors, and Administrators to ensure fairness, transparency, and equity in school-sponsored athletics, extracurricular activities, and administrative decisions. This policy applies when a coach, advisor, or administrator has a direct family relationship with a student participant. It requires disclosure of such relationships to school administration and mandates that selection, evaluation, and disciplinary decisions involving the student include additional staff oversight. To prevent favoritism or the perception of bias, decisions regarding playing time, awards, leadership roles, and discipline must be made collaboratively. This policy is reviewed annually to maintain alignment with the school’s commitment to integrity and equal opportunities for all students.

Student Behavior

The school administration can assign penalties and exclude a student from representing the school for conduct in or out of the school that reflects discredit on FVL and its mission or creates disruptive influence in discipline, Christian standards, educational environment, or good order for students attending FVL. Examples of behaviors not mentioned in the training rules but needing administration consideration for penalties may include such acts as vandalism, shoplifting, disorderly conduct, sexual misconduct, and the like. Violations of state or federal laws would also warrant consideration for suspension from athletics. Student misconduct may be personally witnessed acts but may also include but not be limited to social networking activities, internet postings, electronic or other forms of communication. 

 

 

FVL understands that unexpected changes occur in families. When this happens, families should promptly communicate with the Business Office. Families are responsible for keeping the Business Office informed of any needed changes to their tuition payment plan, including adjustments to the amount paid. Staff are available to meet with families to help keep payments current. If payments are missed and no communication is made, policies based on the selected payment plan will apply. Tuition payments must be current for families to access online grades and other school information. All tuition and fees must be paid before yearbooks, final report cards, transcripts, diplomas, or other school records are released. Families experiencing a change in employment or income that affects their payment plan are encouraged to contact the Business Office to make adjustments.

All tuition balances must be paid in full by May 20. For seniors, tuition not current by May 20 may result in the student being unable to participate in the graduation service. Any balance remaining after May 20 will incur a 3% service fee. FVL reserves the right to pursue collection of outstanding tuition through legal means as authorized by the FVL President in consultation with the Finance Committee and Board of Regents, though the Business Office will make every reasonable effort to resolve balances before legal action is taken.
 

Families who fail to meet their tuition payment contract and are unwilling to make acceptable alternative arrangements may be informed that their child(ren) will not be readmitted. Tuition accounts must be current by August 15 for students to be admitted for the new school year.

For seniors, tuition not current by May 20 may result in the student being unable to participate in the graduation service. Students will still be permitted to complete academic course requirements and take final exams; however, report cards and permanent records will not be released until tuition and fees are paid in full.

Payments may be made directly to FVL, through FACTS or other online payment platforms, or by credit card. If full payment is not possible, arrangements must be made with the Business Office. Any tuition balance outstanding on May 20 will be assessed a 3% service fee.

 

FVL will accommodate and establish multiple tuition accounts for families that are divorced or separated and wish to split their tuition bill. Each tuition account will be treated individually, subject to its own tuition assistance award and its own payment plan. With multiple tuition accounts, an equal number of SCRIP accounts will be established, with SCRIP proceeds adjusted accordingly. In the event that one parent is not meeting their tuition payment, FVL will treat the situation according to the delinquent payment policies.  

 

These policies support a safe, orderly, Christ-centered learning environment. Students are expected to conduct themselves with integrity, respect, and responsibility in all areas of school life.
 

Backpacks may be used to transport materials to and from school but may not be used during the school day.
 

Time is set aside each school day for meditation on God’s Word. Chapel attendance is expected. Students are to participate respectfully and conduct themselves in a manner that honors the Lord and the worship setting.
 

Laser pointers are not permitted in school.
 

Electronic message screens are located in study hall, Commons, hallways, and the atrium. Students should check the message screens for schedule, sports, and meeting updates as well as for students who need to come to the School Office. 

 

PRIVILEGES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Students are permitted to carry mobile phones during the school day; however, they must follow all guidelines outlined in the Technology Agreement, which governs the appropriate use of personal devices on campus.

• Headphones and earbuds may not be used during the school day unless a teacher grants permission. They are not allowed in hallways, during chapel, or at lunch. Additionally, students may not have their phones out when entering chapel.

• All mobile phones must be set to silent mode during the school day, from opening to closing prayers. Devices should not emit any sound or vibration. Students are prohibited from taking pictures or recording audio or video during school hours unless a teacher provides permission as part of a class activity.

• Students must access all internet-based services through the school’s wireless network. Use of personal data plans or other external networks is not permitted on campus.

• Device use is permitted during lunch and passing periods. However, students may not use mobile phones in hallways or bathrooms during class time. Seniors may use their phones in the Commons, but they must use headphones or earbuds for audio at all times. Mobile phones may not be used in the Media Center or Study Hall unless specifically allowed by a teacher or supervisor.

• If a student needs to make a phone call, they must request permission and use their mobile device in the School Office.
   

CLASSROOM USE

Teachers and supervisors establish the specific rules for mobile device use within their classrooms, but they may not prevent students from bringing devices into the room. During class, students must place their mobile devices in a designated “common area” for the duration of the period, unless a teacher provides permission to use the device for educational purposes.

Teachers and supervisors are responsible for monitoring compliance with both classroom and school-wide mobile device rules as part of their supervisory role.

MOBILE DEVICE VIOLATIONS

If a student violates classroom or school mobile device policies, the teacher or supervisor may confiscate the device. The student may retrieve it from the School Office at the end of the school day. Repeated violations may result in additional disciplinary measures, including a requirement to check in the device at the School Office each morning and leave it there for the duration of the day.
