FVL Schools Band

Kids play saxophones in FVL Schools band concert

Music has always been important at FVL, even in our early years. The 1957 band director voluntarily spent his summer driving to his students' homes so they could have private lessons. That dedication and commitment set the tone for a program that has provided hundreds of students with a knowledge of and appreciation for music.

  • The FVL Schools Band Program is available to students in grades 5-8.
  • All beginners start in the Cadet Band where they receive a solid introduction to music and playing as a band.
  • Second year students are placed in Wind Ensemble or Concert Winds based upon their experience and skill level. Second year students also have the opportunity to be part of the middle school jazz ensemble.
  • Our high school continues opportunities for instrumentalists with Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble, and the summer marching band program—Lutheran Vanguard of Wisconsin.

All four of my children participated in the FVL Schools Band Program. They played through high school, into college, and beyond. Some of their band friends even pursued music as a career. My children chose majors outside the field of music, but they all value it and enjoy being able to play—whether it is for church or their own enjoyment. I'm thankful for the great start they received in FVL Schools Band!
