Last week I was reviewing my schedule, noting band rehearsal on every single Saturday until February, wondering what genius planned that. Oh, yeah. That would be me. But last Saturday I stood in front of a band of middle school kids and we worked hard. We played scales. We tuned. We played a hymn and worked on two pieces. If something was wrong and I told them to fix it, they did. If I told them to play softer, they did. If I told them to write something in their music, they did (after raiding my stash of extra pencils, of course). If I told them to play faster, they did... until they didn't. We're still working on that. :) As I said, we worked hard, but it was fun.
So, thank you. Thank you for the effort you and your family are making to make this happen. I know there are sacrifices you're making - giving up extra sleep or time for laundry/cleaning/leisure/family, the extra money for gas, the countless other things I don't even know about. I want you to know that I appreciate it. I'm going to work hard to make sure it's worth your sacrifices and effort. And while I may wake up on Saturday mornings wishing for a little more time in my bed, I always end my morning glad that I got to spend it with your kids.
That being said... :) We have rehearsal this Saturday (Jan. 23). We are recording for our MusicFest performance! Please have your kids wear a black (or dark gray) shirt and jeans or khakis. We plan to rehearse in our normal rehearsal spots at 8:15 am and then record in the auditorium at 9:00. We plan to be done by 9:45. If your child cannot be at rehearsal, please let me know!
Also, we've been a bit short-staffed this month. If you can help out with checking kids in on Saturday (this week or in the future), please sign up here. And since it's been a while, I'll remind you that you can find our rehearsal schedule and more on the website.
If you have any questions or concerns, I'm here to help! God's blessings to you!
