Fox Valley Lutheran High School believes students of all ability levels can succeed. In the year 2020, Fox Valley Lutheran began a Student Services Program. Within this program there are two separate groups, Guided Studies students and Special Education students. All students who are part of the Student Services Program have documented learning plans.
Guided Studies Program
The Guided Studies program was established in 1999 and was designed to meet the needs of students who entered high school behind their classmates in performance in math and/or reading. Candidates will be determined by the Student Services Director, Principals of Federation grade schools, the students' parents, and testing results. Being part of the Guided Studies program allows students to participate in modified courses, receive limited accommodations (documented in a Guided Studies Plan), and participate in Guided Study Hall(s). Students can “graduate” from this program based on performance, and an agreement between the parents, student, and Student Services Director.
Special Education Program
The Special Education Program was officially established in 2019. Being part of the Special Education program requires an Individual Education Plan (IEP), an Individual Service Plan (ISP), a Private School Services Plan (PSSP), or 504 Plan. Candidates for the program are determined by students’ needs as well as testing results, parent and student intake meetings, and paperwork from previous Special Education Evaluations. Fox Valley Lutheran will work to meet the needs of each student with a disability on an individual basis by following the accommodations and modifications written out in the student’s IEP, ISP, PSSP or 504 Plan as closely as possible. Special Education students will also be able to participate in modified courses, as well as Guided Study Hall(s). Special Education students who have an IEP, ISP or PSSP, will also be able to participate in the Special Needs Scholarship Program.
Special Needs Scholarship Program
Fox Valley Lutheran High School entered the Special Needs Scholarship Program in Fall of 2020. This program allows students with an Individual Education Plan (IEP), an Individual Services Plan (ISP), or a Private School Services Plan (PSSP) to attend FVL on a state scholarship. The scholarship also allows additional funding for the school to provide support for students with disabilities. In addition to an IEP, ISP or PSSP, students in the Special Needs Scholarship Program also have Summary of Services Plans.
More information on both these programs is available at fvlhs.org/academics/student-services.
