My Youth Apprenticeship experience has given me valuable insight into the diverse field of mechanical engineering. I have observed the daily responsibilities of various types of engineers, which has helped me determine the engineering path I want to pursue. Along with developing technical skills in 2D and 3D CAD, I have also gained confidence in my professional communication abilities. Clear communication was essential when collaborating with engineers and proved to be a crucial skill when presenting a project in a professional setting. Additionally, the program has broadened my perspective on the many career opportunities within mechanical engineering that I had not previously considered.

The Youth Apprenticeship program has provided me with valuable work experience and a deeper understanding of my chosen career path. I have learned how to create welded pieces from start to finish, ensuring they are ready for delivery to customers. This opportunity has allowed me to gain hands-on experience in the field I plan to enter after high school, helping me feel more confident and prepared for the workforce. Additionally, participating in this program has taught me personal responsibility and how to balance different aspects of life effectively.

My Youth Apprenticeship experience has influenced me to expand my career options after college and has made me feel more confident as a person. Knowing that I can go to work and learn skills that will help me with everyday life has a huge impact on me. I’m thankful for my mentors who support me and care about my success at both work and school. I’ve grown as a person and also improved skills that were not previously my strong suits. Working at David’s has improved my communication skills and provided the confidence that I need for success in the real world.

The Youth Apprenticeship program has provided me with a fresh outlook on what life after high school could be like. My work experience has taught me the value of diligence in my daily tasks and has reassured me that I’ve chosen the right career for myself. My mentor has been instrumental in teaching me about dairy cows, including how various feed mixtures and vaccines contribute to animal health and milk production. These experiences have boosted my confidence in working with animals and solidified my decision about my future career path.

Participating in the Youth Apprenticeship program has helped me effectively balance my work and school responsibilities. Through my work experience, I have developed perseverance and the ability to complete tasks even in challenging or uncomfortable environments, such as Wisconsin’s unpredictable weather. These skills will undoubtedly benefit me in my current role in the U.S. Army. Additionally, the program has taught me the importance of tackling tasks promptly rather than postponing them.

Mrs. Hannah and Mrs. Barrett share their knowledge and encouragement to help build my confidence and excitement to grow as a future educator.

I’m grateful to my mentor for offering a perfect balance of guidance and autonomy, allowing me to refine my communication and leadership abilities while assisting customers and training new team members. This experience has greatly boosted my confidence and equipped me with essential skills for success in my future career.

The Youth Apprenticeship Program has influenced my career aspirations by teaching me the skills of welding and providing insight on the future of the company and what the future could look like for me. I also learned to strengthen my communication skills through talking with managers, supervisors, team leaders, and fellow coworkers in general. Joining the program got me into my first real job and taught me hard work and dedication and the essential skills involved in the workforce. The program opens doors for students.

Being in Youth Apprenticeship has not only helped me improve my welding skills, I have also learned how to take on more responsibility. Getting this workforce experience has helped me learn about all of the technical aspects to welding and better understand the details of different welding processes. I’m grateful for the team at Pierce Manufacturing for their support and for helping me improve my welding skills.

The Youth Apprenticeship program has enhanced my confidence immensely by training me to be comfortable with the uncomfortable. My mentor at Office Furniture Warehouse is a former life coach and has supported my personal and professional growth helping me reflect on my personal, financial, and future life goals. They’ve guided me to improve my communication skills and work through challenging situations which has played a big role in growing my confidence and professional capabilities. This program has taught me to be actively involved and to not be afraid to ask questions and always, always, always want to learn more!
